Rodeneck/Rodengo in the Gitschberg / Jochtal holiday region.

Holiday on a sunny mountain terrace.
The mountain village of Rodeneck/Rodengo is situated at the entrance to the South Tyrolean Puster Valley/Val Pusteria and is part of the Gitschberg-Jochtal holiday region. Away from the traffic-stricken roads, the village is found on a sunny Alpine terrace, just above the Eisack Valley/Valle Isarco. The village and its 1,200 inhabitants can be reached via Muhlbach, along a 4 km road.

Rodeneck/Rodengo stretches over an altitude from 590 metres to 2,100 metres above sea level and consists of the hamlets of Vill/Villa, Gifen/Chivo, Nauders, St. Pauls/S. Paolo, Spisses/Spissa, Ahnerberg/Montano and Fröllerberg/Frella.

The symbol in the village community is Castle Rodenegg/Rodengo, which reigns from a rocky ledge above the Rienz/Rienza canyon. It was built during the 12th Century and is known for its Iwein frescoes. Another highlight is the Rodeneck/Rodengo Alm, which is situated on Europe’s highest Alpine plateau and offers relaxation during any season throughout the year.
